As our community comes together to support the victims of Winona’s recent fires, we would like to share some ways that you can contribute to the efforts to help our affected students.
In the past two weeks, we have had approximately 35 students affected by two separate fire incidences in town. Many of these students lost not only their homes and personal belongings, but also basic necessities such as driver’s licenses, keys and textbooks. If you would like to help these students replace what they have lost, please drop off donations of cash or gift cards at the WSU Foundation Office in Somsen 204. If you have new or gently used items that you would like to donate, you are encouraged to post them on Wazoo’s List for the students in need to see.
Another way you can support the fire victims is to donate to the Winona Chapter of the American Red Cross. The Red Cross is also providing assistance to those displaced by the fires. You can contact them at 660 Kraemer Drive or at 507.452.4258.
We thank you for your generosity and kindness.
